Conspiracy in Mohagony Town

Chapter 1

Aahh said a relaxing Todd, This is the best motel Ive ever been to! 13 year old Todd was on vacation and was visiting the country of Johto. He had come on the ship called the SS Aqua from Johtos neighbouring city, Kanto. Todd was visiting Mahogany Town in particular because a monster convention was in progress and he had found something that looked like a lamb, but stored electricity in its wool. He wanted to question someone about it, but in the meantime he was in his room in Mohagony Town Motel. It was the most luxurious place hed ever been in. It had a comfy bed, a PC, a first-aid room, and free food. Todd lied down on his bed with his pet, the monster, who hed become good friends with, and thought of how he had saved the people of Goldenrod City from an invasion by an organization of criminals called Team Shuttle. I wish I could do that again, thought Todd. After his encounter with Team Shuttle in Goldenrod City, Todd wanted to become the worlds greatest detective, with his sidekick, Mareep, the monster. Well, time to go, Todd said excitedly to Mareep. The two friends went to a cave they had heard about. Come on Mareep, Ive heard Ice Path is the most unique cave in all of Johto, and weve still have 2 hours until the monster convention! Todd said excitedly while running. As they entered they saw that it was aptly named, there was ice all over, and you couldnt stop sliding if you stepped on it. Actually there was a way to stop, but that was to hit something. The duo exited in a hurry because the coolness was giving them a cold and 5 feet tall bats were starting to attack them. Energetically Todd said, Lets go through the park. So Todd and Mareep walked through the park on the quiet spring afternoon. They stopped and played fetch and ate a few hot dogs. It was great, the sun was shining, and the birds were singing, everything was at peace. Then Oh my god, its my watch alarm! Todd said astonished. The conventions starts in five minutes! Run for it!

Chapter 2

Well were here , said an out of breath Todd. Cmon, , lets find someone who can help us. Todd and Mareep looked around for someone who looked like they knew a lot about monsters. Lets browse around for a while Mareep, feeling much better than before.
Everybody freeze! This is a threat, not an advertisement, a threat. We have the place surrounded, put your hands where we can see them! It was a member of Team Shuttle.
Todd could just glimpse a few members when he heard a familiar voice, Remember me, you little worm?
Oh, no, said Todd, Its Grunt! Grunt was the only member of Team Shuttle who was not fired after Todd had saved Goldenrod City.
Grunt was getting really angry now, You wont escape this time, all my friends were fired because of you, but I will avenge them!
Oh really? said Todd with a small smile, Mareep, give them a jolt of your electricity!
Haaalllppp! yelled the electrocuted members of Team Shuttle, Were going now, but well be back! Todd and Mareep turned around to find a crowd staring at them.
One man stepped up and said, Hello, my name is Bill, are you the one who got rid of those people?
Yes, I am, why do you ask?
Well, Bill started, North of here there is a place called the Lake of Rage, and many monsters are coming from there. I was wondering if you could help get rid them. We think Team Shuttle is behind this.
Sure, Todd said, excited at the idea of doing detective work
Okay then, tomorrow Ill take you to the Lake of Rage. Bill said, sounding relieved, Here, let me take a look at that pet monster of yours, hmmm, its a friendly monster that likes helping humans. It should serve you faithfully. Todd headed to the motel, when he got there, he told Mareep, Tomorrows a big day, get some rest.

Chapter 3

Yaawwn, said Todd sleepily, Well Mareep, Bill said wed start investigating at three, so weve got 5 hours to go sightseeing, lets go to the Mahogany Town Medicine Shop. Ive heard its the only medicine shop in all of Johto and Kanto! Todd went outside Todd went outside and felt the suns rays shining on the side of his face and smiled, I guess we wont need our coats! Todd and Mareep started walking north towards the medicine shop, Hey, there it is! cried Todd, pointing at a colourful building.
Hello, may I help you? An old woman was talking to Todd and Mareep, Well, may I?
Uh, no maam, were just browsing, Todd said hurriedly, Except, we do have a few questions to ask.
Sure, ask away.
Well, Todd began, Ive heard your shop is the only medicine shop in all of Johto and Kanto, is that true?
Oh my, this like a TV interview! the old woman giggled, Actually, there is also a medicine shop in Cianwood City.
Then I guess the rumors arent true, but is there anything different about the Lake of Rage, especially concerning monsters?
Umm, err, wellll, the old woman was getting nervous, Oh will you look at the time! Ive got to run, here have a Rage Candy Bar, it tastes great! Take care now, bye!
Hey, wait, what the , why are you pushing me Todd was trying to talk but then . Wow, that woman sure is weird, I wonder if she has anything to do with the monsters? Naah, I bet not. Cmon, wed better get to the Lake of Rage! Mmm, this candy bar is good, mmm, .

Chapter 4

I cant see anything of value, Bill, said a sweating Todd, And its really, really hot.
Todd knew what the reply would be, Well, keep looking anyway! Todd had asked that question way too much.
Give it up Bill, well never find anything, especially since youve hardly said anything about what were doing.
Okay then, Bill said with a sigh, A week ago the police force of Mahogany Town got a phone call from local residents that there were monsters coming to the Lake of Rage and since Team Shuttle had been sighted only a month ago travelling this way, the police force thought it could be Team Shuttle. Also, weve heard about how they almost took control of Goldenrods Radio Tower so weve been looking for them.
Well, Todd began, Theres nothing here so Im going into the water, theres a boat there, so bye!
Todd and Mareep got on a motor boat and started making their way to a red snakelike monster, for some reason it started glowing. As they got closer the monster stopped and looked at them. Then it started spinning around and around until the sky became gray and lightning started flashing.
Big mistake, right Mareep? Todd smiled, Mareep absorb that lightning! Mareeps wool flashed and began to grow until it was twice as big as before, Now Mareep! Let out half your stored electricity! Todd knew that water conducted electricity, the electricity unleashed by Mareep had electrocuted the whole area and the monster had fled.
Hello, my name is Mr.Burns, I am vice president of Team Shuttle, I just saw you almost annihilate that monster. I an very interested in hiring you.
What do mean? said Todd startled.
Let me explain. Team Shuttle is a group of people who do work around Johto, we quit working in Kanto when our old boss quit. We think youd do a great job making our dreams come true.
Sure! said Todd, but he was thinking, Okay let me get this through my mind, I let a monster, probably a big clue, escape and joined Team Shuttle. I could be identified at any moment and killed, hey what have I got to lose?
Good, well talk at our temporary base of operations.

Chapter 5

It was dark and musty in the cellar of Team Shuttles temporary base of operations. Todd and Mr.Burns were talking about the work Todd would be doing.
Mr.Burns talked first, You see Todd, we are a gang dedicated to evil. We are now trying to get monsters to come and wreck havoc across Mahogany Town, and we could use your help in keeping the ferocious, beastly things under control. At this last insult Mareep bared its teeth in anger, Todd petted it to stop Mareep from giving them away.
Sure, Ill join, Ive always wanted to destroy a town! Todd said in a hurry so that Mareep wouldnt ruin his plan.
Good, Ill call my servant Smithers, hell let you stay at his house. He doesnt know English well, hes an idiot who really doesnt know what were up to.
Master, you call me? said a fake cheery voice.
Yes, Smithers, show this boy around the Lake of Rage and take him to your house. Hell be staying there for a while.
Any else, master?
No, just get out of my face you worthless slob, and you, Todd, Ill see you tonight.
Todd and Smithers talked as they went on a tour of the beautiful lake. It was surrounded by a forest of green pine trees, except on one side, that was the beach. Todd couldnt see any locals, they were all in their cottages, cowering with fear. Trying to make conversation, Todd asked, Why did you join Team Shuttle anyway?
Well, I join because of all charity work they say they do
After this sentence Todd started thinking, Hey maybe if I asked him some questions Ill get some clues as to what the overall purpose of Team Shuttles monster business was. have you done any charity work? Todd asked starting off on a light tone.
No, I just servant, why you join?
I dont know, it seemed like a good job opportunity, so I did. Todd was fearing he might be saying too much, but he thought one more question couldnt hurt, I heard this was only a temporary base, do you know where the real one is?
No.
Oh, okay, said Todd, thinking hed said too much.
Look cross lake, you see trees?
Yes, it looks as if a giant bee is coming out! exclaimed Todd scared out of his wits.
You se too? I thought it was imagination!
Mareep, shock it! Todd yelled. Mareeps shock made the bee freeze and fell into the water. Take me home, will you? said Todd, I think Ive seen enough!

Chapter 6

You live here? asked Todd with distaste, It looks like a dump! No offence. Todd was right. The wallpaper was torn at places and had been patched up with McDonalds wrappers and floor couldnt be seen under all the Pepsi bottles. There were also quite a few drawings of Mr.Burns with horns on his head and a pointed tail.
Well it home, it not be sweet, but it home, said Smithers smiling.
Okay, said Todd shrugging, Where do I sleep?
I gather enough cotton from dumpster to make you bed, said Smithers pointing at a pile of cotton sitting beside a banana peel.
The door slammed open and a man appeared, Wheres Burns? the man said in a gruff voice.
He no here.
Ill wait.
Me go get snack, said Smithers.
Well, okay, said the man with an evil smile on his face. When Smithers came back the man said, Thank you and knocked Smithers out with a single well aimed punch.
What! Wha, wha, why did you do that? exclaimed Todd, startled at this brutality.
Because, I wanted to, whore you kid? asked the man.
My names Todd, whats your name?
The names James, you ask too many questions Modd, so shut that mouth of yours, or else, you get what I mean?
Yes sir, right away sir, said Todd in military fashion.
I told you to be quiet, now shut that mouth.
What is my servant doing on the floor? Mr.Burns asked in a bored voice.
Needed a punching bag, said James.
Good job, if I do say so myself. Swollen skin, black eye, I like it, I like it a lot. Cmon Todd, time to talk business. Ill see you tomorrow James, I have no time right now.
What about Smithers? Todd asked worried.
Why do you care? If you do, tell me and you can end up like him, said Mr.Burns. There was a short pause, then Mr.Burns said, Good. I thought not. Lets go.
I could learn to hate that guy, Todd said bitterly.

Chapter 7

Nice Place! said Todd looking around the office of Mr.Burns. There were pictures of people who had been vice presidents in the past. The room was spotless. A chandelier at the top of the room gave off light that reflected brightly off the metal walls and mirror floor. Even through all this Todd saw something catch his eye, a small closet behind Mr.Burns desk.
Todd, said Mr.Burns, We need you here at Team Shuttle to protect us from the monsters. They could attack us at any moment since they arent under our control yet, Mr.Burns smiled at his last word.
Youre going to control monsters? Todd asked astonished.
Yes, then well bring our fallen boss back and take over the world, kill people off, have school 7 days a week you know, be cruel and evil.
Will Mr.Burns please come to the office on the first floor, the PA said.
Ill be back, said Mr.Burns.
Ive got only a few minutes, maybe I can figure out who his boss is, thought Todd. As soon as Mr.Burns left, Todd ran to the closet and checked inside to see if he could find the identity of Mr.Burns boss. What is that thing? Todd said to Mareep. There was a black semi-circle object with electronic wires sticking out. When he touched it the wires became a light shade of red and started getting hot Arrggh! yelled Todd dropping the semi-circle. Oh no! Mr.Burns has probably heard and he could come in at any moment! Todd said as he stuffed everything that had fallen out of the closet back in. Todd went back to the front of the desk as he heard the door squeak open. Whew, just in time! Todd thought.
I dont think you want to sleep in Smithers dump so you can stay the night in my office, Im seeing my boss at 1:00AM sharp. See you in awhile, said Mr.Burns walking of again. When Mr.Burns left, the lights turned off too, destroying any chance Todd had for investigating. Todd set his watch alarm to 12:45AM and fell asleep thinking of the kind of adventure hed have.

Chapter 8

Huh? Whaz zat? Todd was barely awake. Mareep was softly rubbing on his shoulder, Oh my god! Its 12:59! Mr.Burns has probably gone by now! Todd was fully awake now as he put on his clothes and ran out the door. Id better find Smithers, he might know where Mr.Burns went, Todd thought, Cmon Mareep, lets go. At Smithers house, Todd started knocking on the door.
Its one o clock in the morning, said Smithers, What the heck are you doing here?
I need you to tell me where Mr.Burns has his meetings.
Why should I? asked Smithers.
Because I can put Mr.Burns in jail! Todd replied impatiently.
One second, Smithers said brightening up, and true to his word, one second later, Smithers was fully dressed and ready to go. Come on, whatre you waiting for? Get a move on! So Smithers, Todd, and Mareep headed towards the Mahogany Medicine Shop, as directed by Smithers. Lighting the way was Mareeps flashing tail. At night, the medicine Shop looked like the bad guys headquarters in a movie or something. Graffiti could be seen flashing in the moonlight on the sides of the drab building. The boarded windows gave off just enough light to see the cigarette butts and knives on the grassy floor.
Im going in, said Todd gulping at the thought of what might be inside.
Ill get the FBI, said Smithers smiling gleefully.
No, wait Todd started to call out, but Smithers had already ran off, Oh well, Id better go in. As he went in Todd heard a moan. What was that? Todd said as he went closer to the counter where hed heard the moaning come from. Todd couldnt believe his eyes, Mr.Burns was lying on the counter in a way that must have been really uncomfortable.
You, he said, You didnt want to help me, youre helping the cops! You cant hide from Team Shuttle, boy, we know where you live!
Todd panicked, hed have to hide but as he was thinking a knock on the door sounded, "Let us in, this is the FBI, open the door, now! Todd saw steps that looked like they led underground and dove in just as the law enforcers busted in and saw a dead Mr.Burns.

Chapter 9

What am I supposed to do? Todd asked Mareep in desperation. Mareep pointed at a pay phone near a fake door painted on a wall with one of its horns, Thanks, Todd said as he dialed the number for Bills hotel number, Hello, Hello? Bill! I need help, right now. Im hiding in the basement of the Mahogany Town Medicine Shop, hurry! Ill explain everything once you get here. Todd hung up and looked for an exit he could use if Team Shuttle came after him. He couldnt find anything in the steel hallway except for statues, Todd heard a familiar voice behind him.
So, you found our hideout eh? It was the old lady that owned the medicine shop! I thought you might come this far, but of course I was hoping you wouldnt, I dont care actually, youre going to die now anyway, the old lady spoke the last words with a different tone and tore the skin off her head! It was just a mask! Okay you meddling little twerp, the game is over! The young woman whos face appeared from out of the mask said, Time for you to get a piece of your own medicine, you arent the only one who has a trained monster, I do too!
Oh, no, thought Todd, If she has a monster like Mareep, I could die!
Ready twerp? Go Sneasel, attack them! A dark monster that looked like a black cat standing upright sprang up from behind another hallway. It had pink feathers standing out its back and looked formidable. It moved like lightning and had already slashed Mareeps leg.
Mareep! Shock it! Todd screamed, but Sneasel was too fast, the electric jolts just bounced harmlessly off the steel walls, Gotta, think fast, Todd thought as he heard the woman laugh out loud.
Sneasel, the womans voice rang out, Attack the boy! Kill him as your second victim today! The last names hell hear will be my name and yours! Gruntilda and Sneasel!
No! screamed Todd as the black figure moved towards him, Mareep! Fill the whole room with the rest of your electricity! Now! The whole room turned a bright whitish yellow colour and everyone blacked out from the electric shock, Mareep fainted from exhaustion.

Chapter 10

Can I see Todd? a voice said. Todd tried to open his eyes but it was hard. He felt the cool, wet snout of Mareep nudging him and sat upright looking around him. Todd! Youre awake! Ive been trying to see you for hours! it was Bill, I came down to the medicine shop and I saw you unconscious, so I called the police force and ambulance over right away. Youve been like this for an hour! The police arrested Gruntilda and are rounding the others up now, even as we speak! So what happened?
Well after I headed into the lake
and we all fell unconscious! Todd explained.
So did you suspect Gruntilda to be the head of Team Shuttle?
Well, began Todd, I thought she might have been a part of Team Shuttle because of the suspicious way she acted when I asked about the monsters, but I didnt think she was the boss until I heard Mr.Burns had his meetings in the medicine shop. Another clue was the way she asked to help me when there were three others who looked like they needed help. I was the only one going close to the trap door without realizing. By the way, do you know where Smithers went?
As a matter of fact I do, said Bill, Hes in the insanity department, he kept raving about the streets about being free, poor fellow. Bill shook his head sadly, So, thinking of doing more detective work?
Yeah, I guess so, but Im going home to Kanto as soon as I get out of this hospital!
Well, Im glad you did what you did. I heard that Team Shuttle was trying to get their old boss back, he left after his plan to revive ghosts failed. If he came back monsters wouldnt be the only thing wed have to worry about, hed raise the dead too! Who know, maybe hed be able to control them and destroy not only our town but the whole continent as well! Another plot of his Ive heard about is that he ran a gambling centre, if you got enough coins there youd get a monster. The monster would destroy your home after a week. It stopped after a boy named Red busted the operation.
